2008 School Competition Team Mann's Martial Arts is your best choice for quick and effective adult-only martial arts instruction. We do not offer classes at this time to anyone under the age of 18! Our goal is to get-you-in-shape using a highly aerobic workout, and to teach you street-effective self defense in a safe environment using the best techniques from several styles. We excel in helping those who feel they are out-of-shape, unathletic, older adults, those with handicaps, injuries, or physical limitations, quickly and effectively learn how to defend themselves. Recent stats showed our average student age was 33 yrs old and 40% of our students were females, which is a very high and unheard of percentage of females for most adult-only schools. We take additional pride in the high adult retention rate we're able to maintain compared to most schools. We believe the numbers speak for themselves, and are a testament that our unique approach not only works, but makes martial arts realistic for adult beginners no matter their gender, age or physical condition!

There are many factors to consider when choosing a martial arts school. Some people may want to learn a kicking art, others may not be that interested in kicking, or have limitations that make lots of head-high kicks too difficult for them. Others may want something more hands-oriented as a backup to kicking, should they one day not be able to kick. In addition to exploring how much kicking each adult can-or-can't-do, and thus tailoring individual styles of fighting around that, our hand-oriented techniques are fast and devastating, often flowing from strikes into locks, takedowns/throws, and chokes, for controlling and finishing moves. Our own adult students, many which came from other styles/schools they weren't satisfied with, tell us our program is one of the most complete they've ever seen, and makes the most sense!

Kicking may only last a few years?

Saturday Class - picture taken January 19, 2008 - Dallas Martial Arts, Dallas Karate, Dallas Self Defense, Dallas Mixed Martial Arts, Dallas Taekwondo, Dallas Kenpo, Dallas Kickboxing, dallas aerobicsYes, it's true. The Chief Instructor has seen countless instances throughout his training of some black belts (even "masters") eventually getting to where they can't kick anymore, due to kicking injuries or wear-and-tear, and dropping out of the martial arts forever. Often he's found this is due to either improper/excessive training methods, or trying to make kickers out of people whose bodies really weren't designed for lots of head-high kicking. An instructor who can recognize this, and adjust each students fighting style accordingly, will help insure that student is able to experience a lifetime of benefits from the martial arts, and not just a year or two. Our training program is designed so that if kicking is difficult for you now, or if years later your physical condition changes and it becomes difficult, you can focus more on using your hands!

Mr. Mann feels each student should benefit from their martial arts training for a lifetime, and not just a few years, until a person can't do certain acrobatic or head-high kicks anymore! Thus his approach is to train adults with that in mind!

Mr. Mann has chosen the schools name carefully, so that it truly represents his feeling about lifelong martial arts training. The schools abbreviation (MMA) has a two-fold meaning. First, it stands for Mann's Martial Arts, second, it stands for Mixed Martial Arts, which is representative of the broad mix of techniques he teaches!

Your martial arts journey should begin with acquiring information that assists you in making the right choice. I believe students have a right to know about those things upfront, and that they really do exist on a much grander scale than they could imagine! Its unbelievably easy to end up training in the wrong school, even when you're trying hard to choose the right one, and either partly or entirely losing lots of time and money doing so. We hope the articles below will give those who really are the most important, yet often not treated that way in traditional martial arts schools (the students), the highest probability of achieving their martial arts dreams!
